A Herd of Unicorns

Norwich was invaded by Unicorn flavoured LT types this weekend for the pubmeet organised by Lauren and Leanne at the St Andrew's tavern. Despite the fact that they had sensibly booked a private section it turned out that most of the clientele were in fancy dress that night, resulting in the decidedly odd situation of the LARPers looking the most normal...

Frank is now a Snowboarder

As a web designer, snowboarding is in my blood. And as of today, I'm officially a snowboarder - yes, that's me in the pictures, honest! Three more lessons to go on my 30th birthday present from Karen!

This was my first lesson at the Norfolk Ski Club, and it went well. All in all, I think I only fell over about 5 times. My calf muscles are killing me however. Also, let it be said that it's a lot more effort than it looks - those boards are quite heavy!

Next week, more basic manoeuvres. After that, jumps and grinds no doubt!

Goodbye 2006...

With Frank and Karen hosting the Big Norwich Party and others choosing to brave the New Years Eve pub scene Lauren and I had a few bods over for a meal with every intention of wandering into Norwich to join the midnight festivities, wherever they might be.

However, having spent the entire day preparing the grub (who knew dinner parties were so much work?!) we tucked into Leek and potato soup, followed by Parma ham wrapped chicken breasts, turkey in sour cream sauce, mustard sprouts (lovely, although I seemed to be in a minority there...), peas with lettuce and spring onions, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, potatoes both dauphinaisse and chipped. Then chocolate and orange pudding and/or (mostly "and") kiwi and stawberry flan. Then coffee.

By the time we had finished all that it was twenty to twelve, even though we forgot to bring out the cheese and biscuits (probably a blessing in disguise considering the amounts already consumed). So a quick printout of the Auld Langsign lyrics and we were set for midnight and followed it up with a spot of Lord of the Rings Triv and a lot more wine.

Happy 2007 one and all!
